Tonight’s the Last Chance to Tour Current Police Station Building

If you’re hoping to tour the old police facility ahead of next Tuesday’s vote on whether or not to allow the city of Burlington to take out a loan in order to move the Police Station into the US Bank Building downtown, today is your last chance.

Tours of the current police station on Third Street will be held today, for the final time, between 2:00 and 4:00 pm.

The city is asking voters to approve a loan of up to $4 million for the purchase, move and renovation. City Manager Jim Ferneau says that the actual amount of the loan will likely be around $2.2 million and will not include a property tax increase.

The current building, built in the 1870’s, has severe structural problems.
