Burlington Woman Pleads Not Guilty to Kidnapping Charge

A Burlington woman accused of assisting in the kidnapping and subsequent torture of a man plead not guilty in a court filing last week.

18 year old Dovie Manning was arrested in late October after a 25 year old man, told police that he went to a friends apartment at 301 Maple Street on October 18th, and upon stepping into that apartment, he was punched in the face and knocked unconscious.

When the victim came to, he told police he was tied to a chair and assaulted for several hours by at least two people.

Manning is still being held on $100,000 bond on 1st and 2nd degree kidnapping. She’s scheduled for pretrial hearing on December 21st for a full jury trial on January 5th.

Police are still on the lookout for two more suspects in the case. 24 year old Jonathon M Smyles and 25 year old Lawrence C Hines are both wanted on charges of 1st Degree Kidnapping.
