Fort Madison Junior High Student Charged with Serious Assault After Throwing Chair at Teacher

A Fort Madison Junior High School student was arrested on Thursday for hurling a chair at his teacher as he was being sent to the principal’s office for bad behavior.

On November 12th, at 11:30 a.m., the Fort Madison Junior High School teacher sent a thirteen year old, male student to the office for being disruptive in class, as he was leaving the classroom he kicked over a trash can and picked up a chair and hurled it at the teacher. The teacher was struck in the leg with the chair causing minor injuries.

The School Resource Officer arrested the student for serious assault and disorderly conduct and was taken to the Lee County Juvenile Detention Center.
