Winter ‘Draws First Blood’ as Inch of Snow Falls in Burlington

About an inch of snow fell in Burlington overnight as a result of first-of-the-season Winter Weather, but other parts of the Midwest were slammed by snowfall with the City of Des Moines recording 6 inches by late Friday. 4 inches had fell at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, one of the world’s busiest.

Parts of Northern Iowa were hit by a foot of snow or more.

Roads may still be slick in some places in Burlington, creating hazardous driving conditions. David Sheets with the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities urges Caution.

“If you must travel, allow extra travel time. Be sure to carry a winter storm kit in your vehicle. Carry maybe some cat litter or sand, it will be slick in some places, and remember your winter driving habits,” Sheets said.
