Leroy D. Jefferson, 53, of Burlington, died at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 30, 2016, at his residence.
Born December 9, 1962, in Philipp, Mississippi, he was the son of Nathan and Cecil Thomas Jefferson.
Leroy worked in construction and was a self-employed carpenter for many years. He enjoyed fishing and cooking. Anything he cooked was delicious. He was loved by many, especially his family. He was of the Christian faith and belonged to Union Baptist Church, Full Gospel Fellowship.
Survivors include two daughters, Latoya Jefferson of Saint Louis, MO and Tanisha Jefferson of Saint Louis, MO; one son, Kevin Jefferson of Kansas City, MO; two close nieces, Tamika Jefferson of Peoria, IL and Marquitta Jefferson of Burlington, IA; one close nephew, Aloshis (Megan) Jefferson of Burlington, IA; three brothers, Lovie Thomas of Springfield, IL, Bobby Jefferson of Jacksonville, FL, and Gentry Hicks of Fort Madison, IA; two sisters, Coralee Townser of East Saint Louis, MO and Loisteen Farley of Kansas City, MO; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
Rev. Lawrence Manson will officiate a memorial service for Mr. Jefferson at Union Baptist Church, Full Gospel Fellowship Church on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until the time of the service. Condolences may be left at prughthielencares.com.
