Bids have been approved for a joint project between the City of Burlington and Des Moines County for an asphalt resurfacing project on Plank and Memorial Park Roads.
Des Moines County Secondary Roads manager Brian Carter told the Des Moines County Board of Supervisors that Legrand-based Cessford Construction came in as the low bid on the project at $714,368, which was below the engineer’s initial estimate of $861,756.
The project is being funded in combination with the City of Burlington, as part of the road is within the city limits. The City of Burlington signed a memo of understanding with the Council during a meeting earlier this month.
Construction is expected to begin in September.
The County Board approved the bid during a Tuesday meeting.
