Obituaries Friday February 12th

Larry Duane Boysen, age 74, of rural Wapello, passed away doing his afternoon chores on Wednesday,
February 10th, 2016. The son of Albert and Harriet “Lorena” Fletcher Boysen. He was born on November
28th, 1941 in Burlington, IA. He graduated from Wapello High School in 1959. He married Mary Erwin
on March 14th , 1964 in Jefferson City, Missouri. They were married 51 years.
 
Larry attended Colorado State University followed by serving our country in the U.S. Army Reserves. He
then came home to help his dad farm and worked on the drilling rigs around the Cairo, Iowa area. Soon
after, for 12 years, he was a hog buyer at Rath Packing in Columbus Junction, Iowa, while working as a
full time farmer. He raised pigs and cattle, and took pride in improving his cattle herd through artificial
insemination. His passion for farming has been passed down to many of his grandchildren. He enjoyed
morning coffee, a hand of cards, coon hunting, and attending all of his grandchildren’s activities. He will
always be remembered for his orneriness, sense of humor, and never knowing a stranger.
He was very active in the community, always offering a helping hand. He has been involved in the Louisa
County Fair Board for over 40 years and was inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame in 2005. He
enjoyed being in the Eastern Iowa Coon Hunters Coon Club and his favorite dog was Jed.
Larry was also a member of the Wapello School Board, FSA Board, The Wapello Elevator Board, and
many other organizations.
He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.
His family, all who live in Louisa County, include 3 sons: Aaron (Bambi), Duane (Jodi), Adam (Abby)
Boysen; 12 Grandchildren: Adair (Jason) Lents, Bay (Logan Lanz-Engaged), Kale, Sydney, Larame,
Koby, Kabe, Tate, Ada, Jack, Samuel, and Benjamin Boysen; 1 Great Grandchild: Remsen Lents; and 2
Siblings: Harold (Anne) Boysen, Hazel (Gene) Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, infant brother, brother-in-law (Gene Anderson), and
sister-in-law (Anne Boysen).
A memorial fund has been established for the Benefit of the Louisa County Fair.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 15, 2016, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral
Home in Wapello where the family will meet friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
The funeral ceremony for Larry Boysen will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday at the First Presbyterian
Church in Wapello with Pastor Dan Doolin and Rev. Jon Evans officiating. Burial will follow at the
Oakland Cemetery, rural Wapello followed by a celebration time across the road in the Duane Boysen
shed.

Sherry B. Daniels, 64, of Burlington, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at her home.
Born July 30, 1951, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Charles William and Ruth  Cooper Johnson.
Sherry was a registered nurse for 40 years. She had worked as a nurse in several hospitals in Miami, FL, St. Louis, MO, and Las Vegas, NV. She had retired from Great River Medical Center Klein’s Center in 2012.
She was a 1969 graduate of Burlington High School. She was in the first graduating class of the nursing program at Southeastern Community College.
In 1986 she returned from Nevada to take care of her mother and to be near her family. Together, Sherry and her mother enjoyed traveling. Since Sherry and Ruth loved to travel, they took many trips including a trip in 1994 to England and France, where her father had been during WWII, and a trip in 2000 where they had traveled through Italy. She had also enjoyed reading, shopping, and being with her family.
Survivors include her sister, Linda K. Miller of Burlington; one nephew, Cooper (Kathleen) Miller of Burlington, and one niece, Lauren Miller of Fort Wayne, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Dick Miller.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
Visitation with the family to receive friends will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Monday, February 15, 2016, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory.
The memorial service for Ms. Daniels will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 15, 2016, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory with Chaplain Randy Gearhart officiating.  A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory following the burial.
A memorial has been established for the Jane Delano Student Nurse Scholarship Fund.

Dorothy Ruth Reeb, age 95, died February 9, 2016 at Premier Estates, Muscatine, Iowa, exactly
21 years after her beloved husband Raymond’s death. She passed peacefully with family
members at her bedside. Dorothy was born January 16, 1921, the daughter of Edward and
Ruth (Thompson) Schuler in Burlington. On March 25, 1939 she married Raymond Reeb at
Burlington; he died February 9, 1995. She had been a life long resident of Kingston, Sperry
and Mediapolis. The couple farmed for many years in Benton Township before retiring to
Mediapolis. She was a member of the Kingston and Mediapolis Methodist Church. Dorothy is
remembered as a great cook with a warm heart and an open house to friends and neighbors.
She and Raymond enjoyed playing Canasta with their friends. She loved to sing along to the
old tunes and hymns at the care center. Her grandkids loved to have Grandma Reeb read
stories and play games. The family is thankful for her 95 years and peaceful passing.
She is survived by; two sons, Paul and Bonnie Reeb of Muscatine; Larry and Barb Reeb of
Cibolo, Texas; two daughters, Barbara and Darrell Dyer of Lenexa, Kansas; Patti and Tim
Sallee of Wapello; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; She was preceded in death
by her parents, husband, infant daughter Diane and daughter Linda Breuer; 2 sisters and 2
brothers.
The funeral service will be Saturday February 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hagele and Honts
Funeral Home in Mediapolis. Interment will follow at the Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home. A general
memorial has been established in her name.
Lila Marie Fraise, 67, Burlington died Thu 2/11 at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond.
Memorial Funeral Services will be held at 130 PM Mon 2/15 at Lunning Chapel with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service.
