The Fort Madison boys soccer team is heading to the finals after a 7-1 victory over Fairfield last night in Fort Madison in class 2A substate. They play Cedar Rapids Xavier in the finals. In class 1A substate, Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union downed Holy Trinity 1-0 to face off against Albia on Saturday, who beat Danville-New London yesterday, 2-0.
In other prep action, Burlington’s softball girls won a double header against Cardinal, 8-1 and 7-2 respectively. Mount Pleasant over Central Lee 10-0.
The Burlington Bees downed Cedar Rapids 7-6. They play the Kernels again tonight.
Major League action saw the Cubs score another win over the Cardinals 9-8. The Chicago White Sox fell again to Cleveland 4-3. Minnesota Twins beat the Kansas City Royals 7-5.
