At the Mount Pleasant Cross Country Invitational the hosts managed to take top honors on the boys side in the large school category with a team score of 15. On the Girls side, Danville-New London won with a score of 55. Small school boys category saw Holy Trinity score in first with 103.
In volleyball action, Burlington fell to North Scott three games to one. Fort Madison beat Mount Pleasant three games to one. Macomb beat Illini West in a sweep.
In baseball, the Chicago Cubs beat Cincinnati 6-1. The St. Louis Cardinals beat Colorado 10-5. The Minnesota Twins lost to Detroit 8-1. The Kansas City Royals fell to Cleveland 2-1.
And Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler could be out next game. He suffered a sprained thumb during a 29-14 loss to Philadelphia on Monday.
