Obituaries Thursday December 8th

William “Bill”  Noblin, 73, of New London, died at 6:30 PM Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at the New London Nursing and Rehab in New London.

 

Born March 29, 1943, in California. On July 27, 1990, he married Joyce Ann Fry in Temple, TX. She died September 29, 2016.

 

Bill was a truck driver.

 

He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

 

He enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and collecting guns, knives, and swords.

 

Survivors include three step-daughters, Lori (Joe) Canterbury, Jennifer (Matt) Morrison, and Teresa (Ken) Kelly all of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Besides his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents and one son.

 

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

 

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

 

Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.

Robin “Robbie” R. Marshall, 50, of Iowa City and formerly of Burlington died at 7:36 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born September 17, 1966 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Paul Dean and Margie (Robertson) Marshall.

Robin was a 1985 graduate of Burlington High School, received her bachelors at Coe College and her masters from the University of Phoenix.  She was financial and accounting manager for the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics at the University of Iowa.

Robin was a member of First United Methodist Church.  She loved the Dallas Cowboys, Jeff Gordon, and watching sports.  She was an avid fan of Wynonna Judd and enjoyed listening and attending her concerts.  She was the “party planner” and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her mother, Margie Marshall of Burlington; one brother, Gerry (Dian) Marshall of Burlington; one sister, Debbie (Chris) Reid of Tomah, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews, Jera (Ed) Smutney, Jerran (Heidi) Marshall, Jace (Sam) Marshall, Whitney Finley, C.J. (Kathy) Reid, Daniel (Katie) Reid and Amanda Reid; great nieces, Jenica Smutney, Jyliyah (Tink) Smutney, Edlicia (Nene) Smutney, Eveonna (Munch) Smutney and Dacee Marshall; and great nephew, Opie Marshall.

She was preceded in death by her father; maternal and paternal grandparents; niece, Jenica Marshall; and her dog, “Jack”.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, December 9th, at Lunning Chapel.

The funeral service for Robin will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10th, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Kendall Adams officiating.

In lieu of flowers, A memorial has been established for University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.

Cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel and will be accorded following the funeral service.
