Obituaries Friday December 9th

Mr. Roger D. Comstock, 86, of LaHarpe, IL passed away at 9:55 AM Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.

 

Roger was born on June 4, 1930 in LaHarpe the son of Ross and Myrtle Gustafson Comstock. On September 23, 1956 he married Martha M. Fowler at the Old Bedford Christian Church, rural Blandinsville, IL.

 

Mr. Comstock lived most of his life on the family farm east of LaHarpe. He loved farming, raising cattle and hauling grain in his semi. He also worked for SO-IL Service pulling a fertilizer tanker.

 

Roger was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea from 1952-1954. He was a 50 year member of The Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in LaHarpe as well as the LaHarpe Union Church.

 

Survivors include his wife: Martha; two sons: Larry (Julie) Comstock of LaHarpe, Dale (Ruth) Comstock of New London, MO; two grandsons: Lathan Comstock of Peoria, IL, Jostan (Ashley) Comstock of Blandinsville, IL; great-granddaughter: Zoiee Comstock; nephew: Steve (Linda) Comstock of LaHarpe; and a Great-nephew: Tony Comstock of Quincy, IL.

 

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Rodney Comstock.

 

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 until 8:00 PM where the family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of services on Saturday.
