Obituaries Friday January 13th

Amanda Lynne Craig, age 38, of rural Biggsville, Illinois passed away at 11:56 a.m. Wednesday January 11, 2017 at home. She was born August 12, 1978 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel Lee and Mary Lynne Allaman Craig.

Amanda was a 1996 graduate of the former Union High School near Biggsville. She had worked as a freelance makeup artist on Michigan Avenue in Chicago for several years. She also served as office manager for “Almost Home Kids” at Lurie Hospital in Chicago. She returned to the Henderson County area in 2015.

Amanda loved her pets, and volunteered at the Des Moines County Humane Society. She enjoyed being with her friends, and loved her family. She was a giving person with a huge heart, and was always willing to help.

Survivors include her mother and step father, Lynne (Ken) Haase of rural Biggsville, IL, her father and step mother, Sam (Vicky) Craig of Burlington, IA, two brothers, Eric Craig of Keokuk, IA, Sammy Craig of Mt. Pleasant, IA, grandparents, Gene and Joan Ray of Stronghurst, IL, two nieces, Carly and Shawn Craig, two nephews, Nick and Jaegar Craig, and the love her life, Josh Collins of Gladstone, IL. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dr. Loren Allaman and Lyle and Alice Craig.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. Burial will follow in the Biggsville Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Monday at Banks & Beals, where the family will be present from Noon until time of services.
