Burlington Man Receives 10-Year Prison Sentence For October Arrest

A Burlington man received a 10 year prison sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm. 41-year-old Anthony Maurice Walls was sentenced at a federal court in Davenport on Wednesday, according to a press release from United States Attorney Kevin Vandershel.

According to information in the press release, Walls is alleged to have entered a home and taken a shotgun and ammunition following a dispute with two others, loaded the shotgun and attempted to return to the scene of the dispute, when the homeowners tried to stop him, Walls is alleged to have thrown a bag of crack cocaine at them.

A concerned citizen called 911 after seeing Walls walking back to the scene of the dispute with the shotgun, and Burlington Police arrested Walls on October 24th.

The loaded shotgun, and crack cocaine were recovered by the police. Walls had multiple prior felony convictions from Des Moines and Henry Counties.
