Son Shoots Father in Lee County

Lee County Sheriffs responded to a shooting around 11:52 a.m. in Denmark, IA, on Saturday morning.

Upon arrival to the scene, authorities found an adult male suffering from two gunshot wounds.

Deputies learned of the shooting when a family member was stopped for speeding and shared that a father was shot by his son.

The Deputy sent the Denmark Rescue and additional Deputies to the house.

The suspect was taken into custody, in the city limits of Fort Madison, IA, by Officers of the Fort Madison Police Department and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Montrose.

Charges on the juvenile will be Willful Injury and additional charges may be filed at a later time.

The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division will conduct this investigation under the supervision of Chief Deputy Will Conlee. It is considered ongoing at this time.

The victim and the suspect’s names will be withheld at this time.
