Obituaries Thursday March 16th

Rick L. Rountree, age 55 of Burlington, Iowa, formerly of Media, Illinois, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday March 15, 2017 at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa. He was born April 5, 1961 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Jack L. and Betty L. Hasting Rountree. On October 10, 1984, he married Lorretta Lant in Terre Haute, Illinois.

 

Rick was a graduate of Monmouth High School. He lived in the Media area for twenty seven years, moving to Burlington in 2011. He was a Supervisor for COBO International in West Burlington for four years. Prior to that, he was a self employed truck driver, and worked at several manufacturing jobs in the Burlington area. He was a former member of the M.S.T. Fire Department in Media, and also served as an E.M.T. for the Stronghurst Ambulance Service. Rick enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, remote controlled airplanes, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

 

Survivors include his wife, Lorretta, one son, Patrick L. (Sebeth Magner) Rountree II, of Burlington, three grandchildren, Ian, Connor and Patrick III, his stepfather, Bill Lee of Monmouth, IL, one brother, Mike (Cathy) Rountree of Burlington, and three sisters, Debbie (Mike) Hawk, Kathy (Dennis) Yates, and Sherri Rountree, all of Monmouth. He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

A Gathering of Friends and Family, and a Luncheon will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Community Center near Raritan, Illinois. A memorial fund has been established for Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Stronghurst is assisting the family with arrangements. Patricia Ann Sutty, 69, of Burlington, died at 9:48 AM Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at her home.

 

Born January 1, 1948, in Burlington, she was the daughter of John André and Rita Ann Lockwood Howell. On September 14, 1984, she married Robert Steven Sutty in Burlington.

 

Patricia worked at Winegard for 41 years.

 

She was a member of SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, geneology, shopping with her grandchildren, Rachel and Zachary, but most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren. Patricia fought and survived stage 4 cancer since 1989.

 

Survivors include her husband, Robert Steven; two daughters, Brenda Jeanne VaLeu and Debra Ann (Tony) Leuschen both of Burlington; two grandchildren, Rachel Leuschen and Zachary Leuschen; 10 siblings; Mary Ann Wilbanks of Burlington, John Howell of Burlington, Cheryl (Jerry) Powell of Burlington, Barbara (Ronald) Bechtel of West Burlington, James (Tammy) Howell of Burlington, Kathryn (Michael) McCannon of Burlington, Michael Howell of Stronghurst, IL, Theresa Mack of Burlington, Rita JoAnn (Richard) Schoof of Burlington, and Julia (Dan) Wischmeier of Burlington; many, many nieces and nephews and several cousins; two uncles, Francis Howell of Jacksonville, FL and Henry Howell of Columbus, OH.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 5:00 PM Rosary Service until 7:00 PM Friday, March 17, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

 

The funeral service for Mrs. Sutty will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Officiant. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home following the burial.

 

A memorial has been established for St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.

Tracey Denise Howe, 52, of rural New London died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Great River Medical Center.

Born July 23, 1964 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Delbert and Ruth (Powell) Howe.

Ms. Howe was a 1982 graduate of Danville High School and received her associate’s degree in nursing in 1993 from SCC.

Ms. Howe loved her career as an OB Nurse at Fort Madison Community Hospital for 23 years where she participated in over 600 deliveries of babies.  She also was a NRP instructor at the hospital for 15 years and was selected as Employee of the Month in August of 2016.  Her positive attitude was contagious.  Her unique and frequent laugh would make you smile and laugh when you heard it.  She truly had a heart of gold.  Her compassion was never ending.  She was an excellent teacher and was an inspiration to the nursing students.

She was a member of Danville First Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking, being on the river and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, James Robert (Kayleigh) Glick of Quincy, Illinois; two grandchildren, Bryleigh Glick and Trevis Glick; her father, Delbert Howe of New London; and one brother, Todd (Julie) Howe of Burlington; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her mother; son, Robert Warren; and brother, Trevis.

Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. Friday, March 17th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.

The memorial funeral service for Ms. Howe will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18th, at Danville First Baptist Church with Pastor Jack Edmisson officiating.

A memorial has been established for a nursing scholarship fund in memory of Tracey Howe.

Cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel and will be accorded following the visitation.
