A Fort Madison couple are facing serious prison time after being charged with several felonies and misdemeanors in a drug bust last week.

The Lee County Narcotics Task Force says that they have arrested 33-year-old Tachelle Nichole Dowell, and 34-year-old Michael Andrew Hayes, both of Fort Madison, after a search warrant was served at their residence on Avenue L.

Both were charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver More Than Five Grams of Methamphetamine, Psilocybin (Psychedelic) Mushrooms, and Marijuana, as well as a drug tax stamp violation, all felonies.

Hayes’ charges all carry an enhancement for being second-offense.  The two will also face several misdemeanor charges, including Child Endangerment, three counts each of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Drug House, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

If convicted Dowell could face 52 years, while Hayes looks at the possibility of 137 years in prison.

These arrests come after an investigation by the Lee County Narcotics Task Force into allegations that the two were involved in the use and distribution of illegal narcotics in the Lee County area.
