At the Steve Roth Relays in Washington, Mount Pleasant, Mediapolis, and Columbus won team titles. Placewinners included West Burlington-Notre Dame, WACO, Wapello, and Danville. At the girl’s Sherwood Relays in Iowa City, Burlington finished 8th, Mount Pleasant came in third.
In baseball action, the United States will play Puerto Rico for the title in the World Baseball Classic–the first time the US has ever reached the final.
In the Major League, the Kansas City Royals fell to Arizona 4-2. The Chicago White Sox fell to Texas 4-3.
The Chicago Bulls fell in overtime against Toronto 122-120.
The St. Louis Blues beat Colorado 4-2.
