The United States has won the World Baseball Classic for the first time in history. The US team routed Puerto Rico 8-0. Over 51,000 attended the final at Dodgers Stadium in LA.
Illinois is out of the NIT tournament as they fell in the quarterfinal round against Central Florida 68-58.
In the MLB preseason, the St. Louis Cardinals beat Washington 6-1. The Chicago Cubs fell to Cincinnati 5-2. The Chicago White Sox fell to Oakland 5-3. The Kansas City Royals beat San Diego 6-2.
The Chicago Bulls beat Detroit 117-95 in the NBA.
