The Burlington High School baseball team swept a nonconference doubleheader against Mediapolis, winning 8-3 and 15-5. West Burlington beat Notre Dame 4-2. New London over Winfield-Mount Union 14-4.
In softball, New London over Winfield-Mount Union 2-1. 13th ranked Louisa-Muscatine over Central Lee 8-0. Columbus-WACO over Lone Tree 3-1.
In the major leagues, the St. Louis Cardinals beat Philadelphia 8-1 after a seven-run 11th inning. The Chicago Cubs over San Diego 4-0. Kansas City Royals over Boston 8-3. Minnesota Twins beat the Chicago White Sox 9-7.
In the Midwest League All-Star Game the Western Division–that’s the one the Burlington Bees are in–beat the Eastern Division 5-2.
