Council to Talk Replacing City Manager, Auditorium’s Future at Work Session

The Burlington City Council will tackle two of the largest challenges ahead of them during their Monday work session: beginning the process of replacing City Manager Jim Ferneau and finding a new direction for the Burlington Memorial Auditorium.

Ferneau submitted his resignation to City Council members in an email last week. Mayor Shane McCampbell says that the council is likely to bring in a third party headhunting firm to help find a new city manager.

Ferneau’s resignation came right on the heels of VenuWorks terminating their contract to run the Burlington Memorial Auditorium. That came after a discussion last month in which council members considered terminating the contract themselves in an attempt to lower costs. Mayor Shane McCampbell would like to see the city begin running the building on its own, as it has in the past.

The work session begins at 4:30 Monday afternoon at Burlington City Hall.
