The Burlington High School Volleyball team took their first two games against Muscatine last night but fell in the final three to lose in five. West Burlington swept Danville. Holy Trinity swept WACO. 7th ranked New London swept Van Buren. Central Lee swept Cardinal, Wapello over Lone Tree. IMS topped Winfield-Mount Union in five. Mount Pleasant swept Washington.
Jose Martinez homered twice and drove in three as the Cardinals doubled up the Padres, 8-4 to get within four games of the NL Central lead. Chicago Cubs fell to Pittsburgh 4-3. Chicago White Sox fell to Cleveland 9-4. Minnesota Twins fell to Tampa 2-1. Kansas City Royals fell to Detroit 13-2.
