New London is done for the season after the 6th ranked Tigers fell to 5th ranked Holy Trinity last night in the Class 1A regional semifinals in four games. Winfield-Mount Union also had their season ended at the hands of Hartwick-Ladora-Victor in a sweep. Van Buren was also swept by Iowa City Regina.

Viewers for the second game of the World Series dropped 10 percent from last year, less than the 21 percent decline for the opener. That was down from 17.8 million for the Cubs’ 5-1 victory over Cleveland last year — the most-watched Game 2 since 2009. Houston hosts the Dodgers tonight for Game 3.

Despite guiding a team that exceeded expectations this past season, Joe Girardi is out as New York Yankees manager after 10 seasons.
