Iowa State dropped their home basketball opener against Milwaukee 74-56. It’s the Cyclone’s first defeat in a home opener in 20 years. Juwan McCloud made six 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 18 points to help Northern Iowa roll past Alcorn State 73-45.
Major League Baseball has announced its American and National League rookies of the year, and both were unanimous decisions. Aaron Judge is the first New York Yankee since Derek Jeter in 1996 to win the AL Rookie of the Year Award in voting by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Cody Bellinger came away with the NL Rookie of the Year Award. Cardinals middle infielder Paul DeJong finished second.
