A Fort Madison man won big in the Iowa Lottery’s Winner City scratch game last week.

The Fort Madison Daily Democrat reports that Curtis Little spent $2 on a scratch ticket and became a $10,000 winner.

The 29-year-old hadn’t initially planned to purchase the lottery ticket. He bought his winning ticket after grabbing groceries on Nov. 10 at Fareway in Fort Madison.

Little said he expected to win a much smaller prize when he saw that he had a winning match on his ticket.

“… I didn’t believe it, and I read the instructions like three or four times,” he said.

Little plans to use his winnings to pay bills.
