30-Year-Old Prison Inmate from Fort Madison Dies, Authorities Say Cause Unknown

A Fort Madison man serving a 5-year sentence for Theft has died in prison.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says 30-year-old Adam Nolz was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals for an “unexpected medical emergency,” where he was pronounced dead Monday afternoon. No official cause of death has been released. The DOC says an autopsy will be performed.

Nolz had been in prison since April, he was serving a 5-year prison sentence for a burglary at Kempkers True Value in Mt. Pleasant in which a safe was stolen and later recovered from the Mississippi River.
