Keokuk Man Jailed on Weapons Charge Following Traffic Stop

A Keokuk man is facing a felony weapon charge after police found a stolen handgun in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Lee County Sheriff’s officals say 30-year-old Curry James Breuer of Keokuk was initially pulled over for a traffic violation on Highway 218 near Montrose. During the stop deputies found a handgun that had been reported stolen.

Breuer is facing a charge of Trafficking in Stolen Weapons, a class D felony. He could receive up to 5 years in prison if convicted. He is being held in the Lee County jail awaiting an appearance before a judge.
