Student Arrested After School Placed On Lockdown

A West Prairie High School student was taken into custody following threats to staff and students on Tuesday.

A male student who was threatening staff and students with a knife at the high school fled in a reportedly stolen truck when McDonough County Sheriffs arrived to the school

Deputies followed him through McDonough County and Henderson County before coming to a stop in a field in Cameron, IL.

Several police cars were damaged as a result of the student ramming the truck into them during the pursuit.

West Prairie High School and West Central School District in Henderson County were placed on lockdown during the incident for student safety.

No injuries were reported.
