Two Keokuk schoolteachers are being asked to surrender their teaching licenses due to ethics violations.

The Des Moines Register reports that Ehrin Wills and Kay Slusher, both current middle-school teachers in Keokuk, are accused of fraud and misrepresenting material.

Authorities from the state Educational Board of Examiners say Wills was pursuing a Masters degree at Hannibal LaGrage University via online classes. She is accused of submitting Slusher’s work as her own. Slusher is accused of knowingly completing those assignments for Wills.

Wills is additionally accused of falsifying records submitted for license renewal requirements.

Teachers generally make more money if they have a master’s degree. The Keokuk district’s salary schedule shows a 12-year teacher would make an additional $7K with the advanced degree.

Both teachers are employed in the Keokuk school district for the 2017-2018 year.
