A Burlington woman is facing felony theft charges after allegedly attempting to shoplift thousands of dollars of merchandise from a West Burlington store.
Authorities say 23-year-old Ciara Renae Parks was arrested on 2nd-degree theft charges on Thursday night after allegedly filling a shopping cart with merchandise in the West Burlington Target store, and then attempting to take merchandise to her waiting car at the store’s front doors.
2nd-degree theft is a class D felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison. Parks also faces charges for drug possession, and traffic violations in relation to the incident.
Parks was taken to the Des Moines County jail and released on a $7K bond.
