Keokuk Man Pleads Guilty to Mother’s Murder

A Keokuk man has pleaded guilty to murdering his mother in January of last year.

24-year-old Devan Williams entered a guilty plea to 2nd-degree Murder charges in North Lee County District Court on Tuesday. He’s accused of suffocating his mother Lori Williams with a pillow and crushing her Larynx.

Williams was originally charged with first-degree murder, by accepting a deal with prosecutors he avoids a mandatory life sentence in prison had he been convicted. He could receive up to 50 years for 2nd-degree murder.

He’s due in court May 18th for sentencing.
