Congressman Loebsack
U.S. Congressman Dave Loebsack was in Burlington as part of a tour that took him to Mt. pleasant and Keokuk earlier in the day Friday, to meet with Community Leaders, Businesses and the Public to discuss internet connectivity in rural areas of Iowa and the United States. The meeting at South Eastern Community College was designed to be an open discussion so the Congressman could hear about the issues that the local community is facing and also to hear about potential solutions.
Those in attendance heard about the bill that Loebsack sponsored that instructs the FCC to draw up detailed maps of available internet speeds across the nation. From those maps, the Congressman says that issues of little or no connectivity to internet can addressed by congress as well as private industry.
