West Burlington School Board member Randy Fry tendered his resignation by email last week from the board. In his brief resignation letter, Fry cites personal reasons for his departure.

According to Superintendent David Schmidt, the school district has given public notice in the Des Moines County News that there is an opening on our board. The board will appoint a replacement within 30 days to finish out the term.
If citizens believe a special election is best, they have 14 days to garner 100 signatures on a petition. If the signatures are attained the district will hold a special election. Otherwise, If there is no petition , the board will appoint a new member.

Schmidt says this follows the States guidelines for a resignation for a sitting school board member.
