Judy Masengarb, 69, of Burlington died at 10:30PM on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Great River Hospice House.
Born October 25, 1948 in Davenport, Iowa, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Mildred McClanahan.
She graduated with Honors from Drake University in 1970, earning a B.A. in Elementary Education. Judy was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Delta Pi (an Honor Society of Education), a member of Angel Flight, on the Dean’s List, and a Mortar Board scholar. She was also a finalist for Miss Drake.
Judy married Jim Masengarb on August 30, 1969 in Davenport, Iowa. She was a 3rd grade teacher for 3 years before the birth of her first daughter. She worked as a homemaker for the next 49 years, but also worked part-time as a receptionist at First United Methodist Church for 12 of those years. She was a member of PEO and on the Civic Music Board for many years.
Judy is survived by her husband Jim Masengarb of Burlington; daughter Heather Reimer of Clive, Iowa; daughter Christy Masengarb of Tucson, Arizona; daughter Sarah Masengarb of Des Moines, Iowa; sister Ginger Coward of Edmonds, Washington, and mother Mildred McKinney of Davenport, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth McClanahan; brother Jim McClanahan; and brother David Eckhardt.
The memorial service for Judy Masengarb, 69, will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM where the family will receive friends May 15, 2018 at First United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Great River Hospice House.

Mrs Maycel E. Gebhardt, 89, of LaHarpe, IL died at 1:10 AM Monday, May 14, 2018 at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center in LaHarpe.

She was born April 7, 1929 in LaHarpe, the daughter of Amos and Flo Nelson Bundy. On July 2, 1947 she married Edward L. Gebhardt in LaHarpe. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2013.

Growing up, Maycel worked in her parents restraunt and attended LaHarpe Schools. She later worked at the Lomax Canning factory, W.R.I.C. in Burlington, IA. She also enjoyed babysitting for many years. Maycel loved being around her family and following her grandchildren’s sporting activities. She also liked bowling and walking. She was a member of the LaHarpe United Methodist Church and a 45 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by 3 sons, William Ed (Carol) Gebhardt of Burlington, IA, Kerry L. (Beth) Gebhardt of Blandinsville, IL and Marvin (Kelly) Gebhardt of LaHarpe, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and one sister Frances (Eldon) Neff of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Byron Gebhardt, 5 brothers, Julian, Harold, Billie, Amos and James “Dude” Bundy, 4 sisters, Pauline Link, Betty Melvin, Viola Hainline and Edna Furrow and her parents.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the LaHarpe Cemetery with Rev. Rick Goettsche officiating. Friends may call at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe after 3:00 PM Wednesday where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 6:30 PM.
