Mitchell W. Morris, 64, of , died at 1:40 AM, Wednesday, May 15, 2018, at the Iowa City VA Medical Center in Iowa City.
Born December 24, 1953, in Chattanooga, TN, he was the son of George and Dorothy “Dot” Harrison Morris. He graduated from Orchard Farm High School in Missouri.
Mitch was a Vietnam-era Veteran. As a young man, he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a laborer on a construction crew. He liked to camp and fish, and enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include three sons, Mitchell Wayne (Tasha) Morris, Jr. of St. Peters, MO, Daniel Lee (Nichole) Morris of Missouri, and William Kin Thomas of Birmingham, IA; seven grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Kienlen; longtime friend, Gail Thomas of Shawnee OK; and his stepfather, Max Baumgartner of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Connie.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
There will be no visitation or services.
A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Veterans Affairs.
