Sterzings has been working hard, with the help of a food scientist, to bring back the iconic taste of the chip after the FDA forced a change in the recipe. Wednesday (Today) Community Field was the location of a public taste test fo the new recipe.  The owners of Sterzings along with Pritchard Broadcasting Radio Stations gave away free chips to people driving by and walking up, in return for the free chips, an opinion was requested.

A lot of people stopped by for a free bag of chips and offered up opinions and feedback on the progress.  A number of people said the chip was less “greasy” and they like the new chip better. Still another cross section of tasters said they could not tell the difference between this recipe and the 85 year old recipe that got axed by the FDA.

The recipe is still a work in progress. Sterzings says they recently got a slight change from the food scientist to take the chip one step closer to the old flavor. The owners are very interested in the public feedback and invite anyone with comment to contact them. But for now, it looks like the iconic chip has managed to return to its original flavor.
