Obituaries for Monday June 18th

Emma Vahle Bruhl, 77, of Burlington, died at 5:20 PM Friday, June 15, 2018, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born June 19, 1940, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Lorenz “Dutch” and Florence “Babe” Brookhiser Vahle.

Emma worked for IOP Credit Union for 20 years and also for Burlington Chiropractic.

She was a 1958 graduate of Burlington High School.

She was a member of the Spring Grove United Methodist for 65 years and loved her church. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary and the Women’s Bowling Association. Emma donated over 40 gallons of blood. She loved her horses, rode in parades, and enjoyed going on trail rides. Emma enjoyed going to see people in the hospital and nursing homes and visiting with them.

Survivors include one son, David C. (Cassie) Vahle of Burlington; one sister, Jean (Dave) Day-Stamper of Burlington; two grandsons, David and Lakota; two step grandchildren, Sabrina and Trenton; one great-grandson, Kaizer; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two brothers, brother-in-law, and a special friend Earl.

The Graveside Committal Service for Ms. Bruhl will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery with Jan Garza officiating.

A memorial has been established for Spring Grove Methodist Church and the Great River Hospice House.
