Roadwork on Agency Street Continues

There’s been another change in the ever-evolving construction landscape on Agency Street.

The intersection of Agency and West Burlington Avenue is now closed, Public Works Director Nick MacGregor urged people to drive safely as crews begin work.

“We’ll work on the outside first, get that finished up and then move to the inside,” MacGregor said. “At least when we move to the inside you’ll be allowed to make right-hand turns in and out of West Burlington Avenue.”

MacGregor says the work should take between six and eight weeks. There is also ongoing road work and restricted traffic near Wal-Mart to the west, and Hy-Vee to the east. He also talked about the non-working traffic lights near Hobby Lobby. He says everything is ready on the city’s end to complete that project.

“There’s still power lines that are attached to the lower poles…those have to get moved up to the bigger poles,” MacGregor says there have been delays with the contractors that have to move those power lines. “They work for Alliant… I’m limited at what I can do there.”

The Agency and Broadway Street intersection has now reopened, it was closed since March. The City of West Burlington identified that project as a priority in 2016.
