The State had offered an incentive to the company, the City of Fort Madison was required to match the States offer, the council passed that resolution. The matching incentive with the state will bring 41 new jobs to the town and the Scotts plant.

The council also approved several projects, a construction contract was awarded to Norris Asphalt of Ottumwa for $74,629. W.L Miller of Hamilton was awarded a contract for paving of Country Club Road at $1.67 per square foot. The council also approved the 3rd Street CSO separation project in the amount of $95,300.

The City also agreed to move ahead with asking the state for a grant that would pave a trail on the rodeo grounds. The current trail is dirt and hard to maintain, the grant would pave 600 feet of the trail if it is approved.
