The Burlington City Council will auction off another three properties at Monday’s regular meeting.

Homes at 1003 Chalfant Street, 311 Ninth Street, and 1906 Melvin Avenue will be auctioned off. All of those properties will need serious work before they can be lived in. Whoever purchases the homes will have to expect to spend up to $30K on repairs, according to City Development Director Eric Tysland.

The council will also vote on an agreement with the Southeast Soccer Academy for use of fields outside of the Burlington Recplex.

Under the proposed agreement SESA would pay the city $10K for five-years of use. They would also contribute around $10K towards improvements in the fields they use. This agreement would however eliminate an annual $500 charge that they currently pay for electricity use.

SESA was seeking a 10-year deal with the city, however the council opted for a five-year lease with a renewal option instead.

They’ll also vote on a change to a Planned Unit Development near the Southeast Iowa Regional Airport. The developer wants to put a residential apartment building near the fence line at the end of a runway, the Airport board has concerns that could impact larger planes coming into town. The proposed changes did meet all FAA guidelines.

The council meets at 5:30 on Monday at the Burlington City Hall.
