Obituaries Wednesday August 22nd

John Bennage, 77, of Danville, died peacefully during the evening of Saturday, August 18th at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington surrounded by family.

Services will be Thursday at 10am at the Danville United Methodist Church with Rev. Tammy Wirt officiating. Burial will follow at Jaggar Cemetery, rural Danville. Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday at Elliott Chapel, New London with a Masonic Service from 5 – 5:30. The family will be present to receive friends from 5:30-8pm. John E. Osborne, 80, of West Burlington, died at 4:50 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Born April 24, 1938, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of William Harold and Margaret Marie (Fitzgerald) Osborne. On September 29, 1956, he married Carolyn K. Peterson in Burlington, IA.
John graduated from BHS in 1956. John started his career as a tool & die maker by trade. He worked in management positions for Coppes-Murray in Burlington, Caterpillar in Mt. Joy, Iowa and finished his career retiring from Burlington Northern Railroad in West Burlington.
John enjoyed serving as a volunteer fireman for many years in Blue Grass, IA. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge #579, coached sports for his children and was an avid Hawkeye, Green Bay Packer and Nascar fan.
John was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle & friend. He has filled our lives with joy and will be missed by so many.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn of 62 years; two daughters; Dawn (Junior) Sweeney of Blue Springs, MO, Angela (Brent) Hicks of Celina, Texas; one son; Darl (Diane) Osborne of Davenport, Iowa: six grandchildren; Brent, Theresa, Dustin, Danielle, Darrin “Biggie Boy”, Taylor “TJ”; Seven Great-grandchildren; Evelyn, Ava, Vincent, Joey, Elena, Chris Jr., Marcus; two brothers; William Jr. and James of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two Brothers; Richard, Robert and one sister Shirley.
The funeral service for John Osborne will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2018, at Lunning Chapel. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the time of service at Lunning Chapel.
A memorial has been established for West Burlington Fire Department training program.

Glendolyne (Gwen) Moore, 92, died Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Park Place, Mt. Pleasant.
The service for Gwen Moore will be 2:00 Thursday at Elliott Chapel with Pastor Maurie Campbell officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 AM with the family receiving friends from 1:00 until the time of the service.

Merle Tisor, 71, of Burlington, died at 8:38 AM Sunday, August 19, 2018, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born September 22, 1946, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, he was the son of Donald Merle and Faye Ballinger Tisor. He married Janice Vandiver in April of 1967. They later divorced. On May 14, 1988, he married Connie Bock Lyons in Naples, Florida.
Merle worked on the line at General Electric for 38 years and later retired.
He graduated from Burlington High School in 1964. He attended SCC.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from 1966 until 1969.
Merle enjoyed golfing and fishing. He also loved walking his dog, Jake, his forever friend.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; two daughters, Amanda (Adam) Fawcett, and Michelle (Corey) Graham, both of Burlington; two step-sons, Sean (Tara) Lyons of Anchorage, AL, and Christopher (Michelle) Lyons of Kansas City, KA; one step-daughter, Amanda (Francisco) Sanchez-Losada of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, and two half-brothers John and Teddy McCully.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law Richard Bock.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

The memorial service for Mr. Tisor will be 7:00 pm Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Reverend David J. Yonker officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. A celebration of life and lantern release will be Saturday, September 22, 2018. Details to follow.

Daniel Brian DuFour, 61, of New London, died Sunday, August 19, 2018 at his home.
The service for Daniel DuFour will be Friday at 11:00 at Elliott Chapel, New London with Dr. Bruce Lindberg officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 until the time of service.
