Obituaries for Monday September 10th

Mr. John L. “Jack” Voyles, 83, of New London, died Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington. Services are pending at Elliott Chapel, New London.

Vera Kathryn Fedler, 91, of Burlington, died at 4:25 am Friday, September 7, 2018, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born November 21, 1926, in Montrose, IA, she was the daughter of Charles Grover and Cecelia Cathryn Slattery Brown. On September 10, 1949, she married Leroy James Fedler in Ft. Madison, IA.

Vera worked at Schramms for 27 years and for Schaeffer Pen for 18 years.

She graduated from Montrose High School.

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. In her free time, Vera enjoying playing golf and cards. She loved to dance.

Survivors include her husband, Leroy James Fedler of Burlington, one son, Jon William Fedler of Lexington, MO, daughter, Kathy Fedler (Timothy) Moorman of Mead, CO, and two grandsons, Zachary and Nicholas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Junior Brown; and two sisters, Marjorie Brown, and Dorothy Pezley.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

The Memorial Service for Mrs. Fedler will be Wednesday, September, 12, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home with The Very Rev. Fr. Marty Goetz as the Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Divine Mercy Parish.

Nadine Walker, 94, of Burlington, died at 1:25 PM Sunday, September 9, 2018, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born May 13, 1924, in Chadwick, MO, she was the daughter of Walter Robert and Cora Elizabeth McNiel Calvin. On August 4, 1943, she married Harold Burdette Walker in Danville.

Nadine was a homemaker.

She was of Christian faith and was a member of Long Creek Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her husband and family.

Survivors include her husband, Harold of Burlington; son, Ronald Lynn (Sharon) Walker of Florida; daughter, Sherry Kay (Ervin) Imm of North Liberty; brother, Jerry Gene Calvin of St. Augustine, FL; two sisters, Jean DiBoye and Velda Darbyshire of Sedalia, MO; three grandchildren: Jackie, Wendy, and Maria (Matt); and three great-grandchildren: Anna, Kate, and Nolan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Sonny, Jr., Ralph, Ted, and Armand; four sisters, Chloe, Edna, Dorothy, and Norma Geraldine.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

Inurnment at a later date at Long Creek Cemetery.
