In April Emergency Personnel responded to a call on Stoney Hollow Road. When they arrived they found Bradley Wischmeier laying about 20-yards away from a burning vehicle in a field. The badly burned body of his wife Lisa was found near the vehicle.

Wischmeier was arrested and charged with homicide by vehicle – operating under the influence, a charge that carries a penalty of up to 25 years in prison. Key evidence in the case, a blood test was taken at the hospital on the night of the incident will not be presented to the jury. The blood test was obtained with a warrant that was not properly obtained and was ruled inadmissible in the trial by Judge Michael Schilling. Other evidence in the case, including photos taken at the scene, may not be admitted depending on the decision of the judge when the trial begins.

Jury selection will begin on Tuesday in the Des Moines County Court House. The trial has been scheduled for four days.
