West Burlington Tax Levy to Remain Steady for FY20

The property tax levy for West Burlington residents will remain unchanged in the FY20 budget, which goes into effect in July.

The West Burlington city council went over their proposed budget at Wednesday night’s meeting, Mayor Hans Trousil said the rate will remain at $10.00 per thousand of taxable valuation.

The city’s tax levy is near the bottom of comparably sized cities throughout the state, and the lowest of municipal entities in the area.

The FY20 budget presented will operate with a $64K deficit and leave the general fund with a balance of just less than $400K. According to the presentation it would take a .40 increase in the tax levy to balance the budget.
