West Burlington School Superintendent David Schmitt has resigned from his position.
The sudden, and surprising move came at West Burlington’s school board meeting on Monday night. Schmitt says ongoing and newly diagnosed health issues are behind the move.
He’s served as the Superintendent for the district for eight and a half years. His resignation is effective immediately. The board will begin the search for an interim superintendent in the coming weeks.
