GRMC Restricts Patient Visiting for Flu Season

With the flu going around the area, patient visiting at Great River Medical Center has been temporarily restricted.

Hospital officials say people under 14 will not be allowed to visit patients in the hospital as they are at higher risk of spreading the potentially-deadly disease.

In the emergency department visiting will be limited to one adult patient, anyone who has been exposed to the flu or exhibited and potential symptoms will be asked to wear a mask.

In pediatrics only parents and grandparents will be allowed to visit, and in obstetrics only spouses or partners, grandparents, and healthy siblings will be allowed to visit.

Officials say the flu virus can be spread 24 hours before and after someone shows any symptoms of the disease. The restrictions will be lifted after flu season is over.
