Missouri Legislators to Vote on Gas Tax Hike

Illinois isn’t the only state considering raising their gas-tax.

Legislators in Missouri have introduced Senate Bill 430, which would raise the gas-tax in the show me state by 2-cents immediately and another 2-cents every year through 2021. Supporters say it would improve the state’s roads and infrastructure, but opponents say it would increase the burden on drivers too much.

Missouri voters shot down a proposed gas-tax increase last November, this bill was introduced into the senate only four months later. Currently the gas-tax in Missouri is 17 cents-per-gallon, if the bill passed it would increase to 23 cents-per-gallon over the next three years.
