The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the Fort Madison Police Department are teaming up for a few days of focused enforcement on driving impaired nicknamed “Drive High, Get An OWI”

Lee County Sheriff Stacy Weber had this message:

“First I’d just like to wish everybody a Happy Easter and a safe Easter weekend,” Sheriff Weber says it’s unfortunate that Easter falls on the same weekend as 4-20, a day celebrated by marijuana enthusiasts.  “Our message to the people who choose to partake in the illegal substances, that it doesn’t matter what term you use… high, stoned, wasted or drunk, the person is impaired and will be taken to jail.”

Weber also wanted to remind the public that although certain drugs, such as marijuana, are legal in other states that it is still illegal to purchase, possess or use them in Iowa.
