College students may now be able to carry stun guns on campuses.
Representative Matt Windschitl, a Republican from Missouri Valley, spoke out in favor of the bill saying “we are talking about devises that are meant to incapacitate somebody for a temporary amount of time” adding that will give the victim time to “go find the help they need”.
Representative Mary Mascher, Democrat from Iowa City expressed her view that a college campus, especially at sporting events, is not a place for stun guns.
The bill that passed the Senate last month had a change in language in the House adding a stipulation that would prohibit anyone with a felony conviction from carrying a stun gun. This bill is likely to pass the Senate and move onto the Governor for her review.
