A Burlington man is facing charges after police say he scaled the Southeast Iowa Regional Airport fence, climbed on top of a building and damaged an awning.
Burlington police arrested 34-year-old Joshua Claeys after finding him walking away from the airport fence on Monday. They say he had climbed a fence on the north side of the airport while an airplane was unloading passengers, climbed on top of a building and jumped down onto an awning. Several metal tiles on the awning were damaged.
Claeys is charged with criminal mischief and trespassing. He’s being held on a $2K bond at the Des Moines County jail.
