Crosswalks in Burlington will get a makeover

Some of the crosswalks in downtown Burlington will be getting a beautiful Upgrade.

Last week, Tammie McCoy of the Burlington Art Center approached the Burlington City Council to ask if the Art Center could paint some of the sidewalks in Downtown Burlington with Permanent chalk.

The Council gave McCoy permission to go ahead with the plans to give the cross walks a makeover. McCoy hopes the work can be completed before RAGBRAI rolls into town on July 26.

The crosswalks to be decorated are those along Jefferson Street, though the council told McCoy more could be done if there were people wanting to do them. Each Sidewalk will be painted with a mural that will be contained within the white lines.

McCoy did not say which of the cross walks on Jefferson Street will be painted.
